“ Anyone who comes close to achieving perfection in any activity is an artist, and the results contain the essence of beauty. But the art is as much in the activity, as in the results.

Works of art are not just the finished product, but the thought, the action and the processes that created them! ”

-          Jean Auel (Paraphrased)

Southwest Martial Arts is a non-business oriented, community service based organization, geared to promote personal development of our students through continuous mental, physical and spiritual growth. Students improve job/school performance, and enjoy enhanced health, while developing superior self-defense and citizenship skills. True confidence and self-discovery are gained through the challenges Martial Arts training presents to the body and mind.

The American Black Tiger System combines aspects of Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Philippine Martial Arts techniques and philosophies. The ultimate goal of the American Black Tiger System is to develop within the student a focused, peaceful, compassionate and harmonious spirit, and to live in peace with all benevolent peoples.

Beginning studies focus on physical coordination and basic self-defense techniques. Intermediate studies enhance mental and physical conditioning and discipline, and support increased character development, while laying the foundation for internal energy cultivation and utilization.  Advanced students, having been taught conflict avoidance whenever possible, are able to effectively utilize both the internal and external forces of the Martial Arts for health, personal improvement and self-defense. Advanced studies are extensive, and include empty-hand and weapons proficiency at all ranges of conflict, defense against multiple opponents and Qigong (internal energy development and applications).

“The opposite of discipline is neglect! Therefore, lets not tolerate neglect of ourselves in any respect, be it mental, physical or spiritual neglect, for what you tolerate, you cannot change”

-   Sifu Scott Abbott
